Double homicide in Pembroke

Following a fatal shooting in Renfrew Friday night, the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is now investigating the homicide deaths of two individuals in Pembroke.

Police say officers were called to a residence on Mackay Street shortly before 3 am on Monday, May 22, where police found two people with life-threatening injuries.

Both individuals were transported to hospital, where one person was pronounced deceased. The second victim remains in hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Shortly afterwards, a third person was located deceased not far from the initial scene. 

Police say investigators believe the victims were targeted.

Police are asking the public to report any suspicious activity in the area, and to be mindful of their own personal safety. 

If anyone has any information that may assist the investigation, they should contact the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP at 1-888-310-1122 (or 911 in an emergency) or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) Canine Unit, the Upper Ottawa Valley Crime Unit and the OPP Forensic Identification Unit are engaged in the investigation, under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and Centre of Forensic Sciences.

Police say the investigation is in its early stages and more information will be released when available.
