May-hem has well and truly begun for Mackenzie Community School’s secondary students!
The badminton team headed to Brockville Thursday, May 3 for the Eastern Ontario championships.
Kirsten and Ibby finished pool play in their first appearance at EOSSAA badminton with four wins, but did not advance to the medal round.
Also in mixed doubles, Peter and Grace also had a great preliminary round, and only faltered in their semi-final match which kept them from advancing to OFSAA.
In girls doubles, Jamie and Diana were undefeated in pool play, but then lost a hotly contested match in the OFSAA qualifier.
The duo of Oli and Baraa only fell to their Mustang teammates Derek and Ezra in the gold medal match and both boys doubles teams will be competing at OFSAA May 11-13 in Port Hope.
The success of all the players meant that Macklenzie had the highest aggregate score of all teams at the tournament and they brought home the EOSSAA trophy.
