PAYNE, Patricia Ann (Hoare)
Passed away peacefully at Country Terrace Longterm Care Home on Friday November 24, 2023 at the age of 88. She is survived by her dearly beloved husband, William Eric Payne, and her daughters Cheryl (Brian) and Erin (Frank). Lovingly remembered by her two grandchildren, Sarah (Nick) and Madison (Scott), and sadly missed by her great grandson, Emmett.
Patricia was born on July 15, 1935 in Pembroke, Ontario; and she was a proud Ottawa Valley gal. She married Eric Payne in 1957 and they embarked on an adventurous life together. They spent many years in Pinawa, Manitoba and Vienna, Austria. They finally returned to Deep River where they started their married life and spent the next 30+ years there. In 2017, Patricia and Eric moved to Dorchester to be closer to family.
Patricia was a historian and especially loved the history of the British Royal family and art history. She enjoyed reading, storytelling, painting, playing card games, and spending time with family. She gave back to her community by participating in the Canadian Cancer Society’s annual daffodil campaign and teaching English to new Canadian residents.
Thank you to the many caregivers and friends at Dorchester Terrace Retirement Residence, Dorchester and in more recent years, Country Terrace Longterm Care Home, Komoka.
