Town to raise water rates $100?

Deep River homeowners may see their water and sewer bills rise another $103 next year.

Deep River council is expected to vote tonight on a recommendation to increase the combined water and sewer rates by more than seven per cent for 2024.

It would be the fourth year rates are set according to a water and sewer rate study that council approved in March 2021.

Year over year, the town’s water rate would rise from $813.82 for 2023 to $870.79 next year.

The sewer rate would increase from $603.03 to $649.12.

Combined, the water and sewer bill will go from $1,416.85 to $1,519.91.

That’s an increase of 7.3 per cent year over year, and 35.6 per cent from 2020, when the combined rate was $1,121.08…
