Surplus to boost town’s reserves

Deep River’s surplus will go a long way to bolstering the municipality’s reserves.

Town council gave the green light last week to a recommendation calling for an injection of nearly $2 million to reserves and reserve funds.

That money stems from the surplus recorded in the town’s 2023 audited financial statements.

The surplus originally came in at $1,484,287, with that figure including $2,170,822 of “non-cash” items like amortization expenses, as well as $141,459 in costs related to the town’s “asset retirement obligations”…
