Provincial funding pays off for county, MPP says

Partnerships with the province have paid dividends for municipalities in Renfrew County.

That was the message delivered to the county’s mayors and reeves ahead of Canada Day by local MPP Billy Denault, in an update as to what the province has brought to the table on their behalf.

“We’ve seen some significant wins for our community,” Denault told county council, while taking pains to stress that the four-laning of Highway 17 from Arnprior to Renfrew is proceeding on schedule.

“I would be remiss if not highlighting the advancement of the Highway 17 expansion project from Arnprior to Bruce Street, with the release of the detailed request for proposals, and the expectation of having a service provider for that selected this fall,” he said.

“We continue to make meaningful progress on that long-awaited project.”

Denault also pointed to the province’s recently rolled-out Housing Enabling Water Systems Fund, aimed at providing funding to municipalities for water infrastructure projects to support new development.
