Pool needs $1.5 million in repairs

Deep River’s Community Pool, which hasn’t been open since August due to electrical problems, will cost the town $1.5 million in structural upgrades over the next 15 years.

That hefty price tag was presented to town council at its last regular meeting just before Christmas.

It comes after a number of structural deficiencies were found in the building housing the pool, following a comprehensive condition assessment of the structure by a pair of consulting engineers – Snetsinger Consultants and Pretium Engineering.

The biggest deficiencies were found in the pool’s flat roofs, which according to the consultants are 20 years old and, based on moisture contamination to their insulation, have reached the end of their useful service lives…
