Watermain breaks in Deep River are proving to be a headache for the town’s residents and public works department alike.
The municipality experienced a spate of watermain breaks over the past winter and they’ve continued into the spring, with the latest taking place just last week on Glendale Avenue.
And Dianne Mitchell, who lives on Hillcrest Avenue, has reached her breaking point, voicing her frustrations in a strongly worded letter that’s on town council’s agenda this week.
“I am not a complainer. I seldom even voice things that I am unhappy about, it’s just not in my nature” Mitchell prefaces her letter.
“I also know that, if you say nothing, no one is aware of your feelings about things, and you get nothing done.
“And so, after numerous watermain breaks in our back lane, and consequent basement flooding, I’m saying something.”
Mitchell cited a history of watermain breaks in her back lane, dating back to February of 2015, when her basement was completely flooded.
The breaks, she says, have also left her entire yard a mess every time they occur…
