Renfrew County’s economic development department and the Ottawa Valley Tourist Association are teaming to get in the faces of Toronto area residents.

Alastair Baird, manager of economic development services, reported to the county’s development and property committee Tuesday that the two agencies are collaborating on a marketing program in the GTA utilizing 18 giant video screens.

Baird said the video screens are located at “strategic sites along the major 400 series highways running through Canada’s most populated region.”

“We will split 160,000 impressions of 8-second-long video messages, one promoting tourism and one promoting county lifestyle and career opportunities.”

The campaign runs from June 6 to June 19.

Baird said these screens are “truly giant, measuring 14×48’ and situated prominently along Highways 401, 403, and 407.”

“This is a first trial of this marketing channel and, if successful, we will consider future use of these giant screens to reach the large and nearby GTA audience of tourists, investors, workforce and retirees.”
