Work set to begin on Deep River water tower

Work on Deep River’s water tower project will begin next week, and that means local residents are being asked to reduce their water use.

Deep River council approved the water tower rehabilitation project in May, awarding the contract to Landmark Municipal Services ULC at a cost of $2.379 million.

During the project, the entire water tower will be surrounded in scaffolding and hoarded with tarps to contain dust from the scraping and sandblasting of the old paint.

The water tower will also be drained, leading to restrictions for the town’s water users.

“It is essential to minimize our water consumption during this project to ensure that all residents have sufficient pressure and to ensure that the overall system pressure does not drop below Ministry of Environment specified levels,” the town says in an announcement in this week’s paper…
