It may not be pretty, but it’s been part of our community for more than 50 years.
The Beer Store, formerly Brewer’s Retail, located on Highway 17 in Deep River, will close its doors a final time on Sunday, September 14.
The Beer Store announced the closure Monday.
Deep River is one of 10 locations to be closed that day, along with stores in the Greater Toronto Area, Hamilton, Ottawa, Ridgetown, Sioux Lookout, and Northbrook.
The Beer Store has announced 39 store closings across the province since the May long weekend.
The first closures take effect this Sunday, July 20.
The retailer cited a changing retail market regarding the decision to close the stores.
“The retail market for beer is changing in Ontario and for the Beer Store that means making the difficult decision to close some retail locations,” Ozzie Ahmed, the Beer Store’s vice-president of retail, said in a release.
“This is not an easy decision and not one we make lightly.”
