Accused to remain in custody until next date

The man charged in a violent attack in Deep River three weeks ago will remain in custody at least until his next court appearance.

Haedyn Fry, who turned 26 in August, made his second appearance in Pembroke court last Friday.

Justice of the Peace Carl DeJong noted that Fry had taken a “vow of silence” and he communicated to the court only by nodding his head yes or shaking his head no.

Fry was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Tuesday, October 13, when he will be represented by his defence counsel, Pembroke lawyer Mark Huckabone.

Acting Crown Attorney Matthew Geigen-Miller had no objection to the new date.

“What is important to the Crown is that we are moving this matter forward (and) proceeding expeditiously,” he said…
