Kyle Tremblay has won a lot of medals in recent years.
Last week he received a medal of a different sort, recognizing the grit and determination it took to win the ones that came before it.
Deep River’s hometown hero received this country’s highest civilian honour last week when he was presented with the King’s Coronation Medal for his inspiring performance at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

“Kyle’s dedication, hard work, focus and perseverance have not only propelled him to the highest levels of athletic achievement, but have also shaped him into an inspiring role model.
“His journey, from overcoming personal challenges, to representing Canada on the world stage has united out community in a way that is truly rare, and deeply meaningful.”
The King’s Coronation Medal was created to commemorate the coronation of His Majesty, King Charles III, and is awarded to people who have made significant contributions to their communities, countries, or who have demonstrated exceptional achievement.
Mayor D’Eon said Tremblay checked all those boxes.
“Kyle’s success reminds us of the power of resilience and the strength found in support, both personal and communal,” she said.
“He has shown us what is possible when passion meets purpose, and we are incredibly proud to call him one of our own”…
