The town of Deep River is moving forward with plans for a major overhaul at the Deep River Arena.
But when it’s done, most of the work will be almost invisible.
The town issued tenders last week for the replacement of the “rink slab” and all of its underground piping.
The piping is part of the refrigeration system that freezes the ice surface for the hockey season.
The work will also include replacement of the arena boards.
The project was carried over from 2025 as part of this year’s capital budget.
Estimates for the work are roughly $1.5 million, with $750,000 covered by a grant through the province’s Community Sport and Recreation Infrastructure Fund…
