Summerfest offers permanent pavilion

Summerfest organizers in Deep River want to give something back to the community.

And the project they have in mind is the construction of a pavilion for community use on the site the popular event is held every second year.

Summerfest committee chair Kelly Brown brought the proposal to town council’s attention last week.

“We’ve been fairly successful over the last several festivals,” Brown told council.

“We’ve gotten ourselves out of a financial ditch and we have some money ahead.”

The pavilion the Summerfest committee proposing on the waterfront campus would be a pre-fabricated post and beam, open-air structure, with a cement slab and steel roof, which it hopes to have built by the end of next summer.

Plans for the pavilion also include upgrading the electrical service to the campus from 200 amps to 400 amps…
