There could soon be another player in the quest to bring higher speed Internet services to Renfrew County.
Quebec-based Videotron is asking Renfrew County for a show of support for its application to Canada’s telecommunications regulator to expand its services in the region.
In a letter to county CAO Craig Kelley, Brigitte Dupuis, director of public partnerships for Videotron and Freedom Mobile, says the company is moving forward with an application to the CRTC “for funding to build and upgrade our fibre transport network in Renfrew County.”
“Creating an alternative fibre route in your area would provide additional resilience to all existing telecommunications infrastructures.
“It would also allow future improvements to wireline and wireless connectivity and services for the benefit of your citizens,” she said…
