Two weeks after a large group of residents protested a Zoning Bylaw amendment in the west end of Deep River, council chambers were packed again last week with people voicing their opposition to an Official Plan amendment in the east end of town.
Claire and Stuart Kennedy are seeking to re-designate 3.6 hectares of land from “Rural” to “Rural – Exception 3” in order to create five new residential lots.
The property has 95 metres of frontage on Balmer Bay Road and 63 metres on Wintergreen Lane, and it also has water frontage on the Ottawa River.
Four of the new lots would front on Wintergreen Lane while another, along with one retained lot, would front on Balmer Bay Road.
The Kennedys were represented at the public meeting on the matter by Anthony Hommick of Jp2g Consultants, which is steering their application through the planning process.
Hommick told council the proposal complies with Ontario’s Provincial Policy Statement, in regards to its regulations for the development and use of land.
“It’s underutilized in its current state,” Hommick told council, adding the proposed lots conform to the town’s Official Plan policies in regards to their rural designation…
