The Deep River Community Centre (DRCC) is in no danger of going anywhere anytime soon.
That was the message coming out of Deep River council recently in response to concerns from community groups based out of the DRCC.
Council was in receipt of concerns raised specifically by the Deep River Bowling Club over the spectre of the community centre being removed for parking as part of the town’s downtown community improvement plan (CIP).
“The six-lane, five-pin bowling alley, founded in 1946, is not only a heritage icon, but also a viable asset as well,” the correspondence from the bowling club stated in part.
“It cannot be moved to another location. If it is removed, it will be lost forever”…
