Local municipalities are joining the province of Ontario warning against the dangers of fire in August’s extreme dry conditions.
The towns of Deep River, Laurentian Hills, Petawawa and the townships of Head, Clara, Maria have all issued fire bans, to remain in effect until further notice.
Deep River issued notice Monday that, “due to prolonged dry weather conditions and the increased risk of wildfires,” a municipal fire ban is now in effect for all areas within the town as of 1 pm Monday.
The town said the fire ban means “no open-air burning of any kind is permitted. This includes campfires,
bonfires, and fireworks.”
“The use of burn barrels is strictly prohibited.”
The town said the ban extends to “all municipal parks, private properties, and rural areas.”
Propane or natural gas appliances are still permitted for cooking and warmth, but must be attended at all times…
