Morning fire hits local home

Laurentian Hills firefighters responded quickly Monday morning to knock down a fire that caused extensive damage to a local home.

There are few details available and firefighters remain on scene investigating the cause of the blaze.

Firefighters were called out shortly before 8:30 am Monday to the home on Miller Road and were quickly able to bring the fire under control.

Deep River firefighters were also called out as backup in mutual aid.

There were no injuries and firefighters were able to rescue a pet parrot from the home.
