Mackenzie celebrates Class of 2024

Mackenzie Community School’s graduating Grade 12 “Class of 2024” did not have the “typical high school experience” but faced barriers that “previous generations did not.”

But they got through it, said principal Rob Levasseur during graduation ceremonies in Childs Auditorium last week – and not just got through it, but came through with flying colours.

“The past several years have been challenging… but you persevered,” Levasseur said.

“You adapted, were flexible, embraced change, overcame challenges, were resilient, exhibited kindness to keep us all safe, learned to support each other, and learned to appreciate the little things.

“These skills helped you succeed in high school and will serve you well in life.”

Levasseur said that while the students’ time at Mackenzie Community School may be ending, “your commitment to the greater good continues.”

“Your teachers have prepared you with the knowledge and skills to think critically and challenge the status quo. Continue to strive for deep and meaningful change for an equitable, inclusive, and just society free from discrimination.

“We are confident you will bring about this change in our communities and society at large”…
