Deep River’s integrity commissioner has rejected a municipal code of conduct complaint against Councillor Bob McLaren filed by the town’s former CAO.
The complaint involves reports to council in early 2020 regarding damage to one of the fire hall doors.
“At all relevant times, (McLaren’s) son was employed by the town as a firefighter,” integrity commissioner Guy Giorno says in his report.
Former chief administrative officer Ric McGee filed the complaint against McLaren in June 2020, accusing the councillor of violating the council code of conduct by “participating in debate and voting in relation to a staff report in which he subsequently declared a pecuniary interest.”
Giorno’s report on the complaint is on the agenda for Wednesday night’s council meeting….
