DRDH breaks ground on new home

The ground has been broken for several weeks now on construction of the new 96-bed long-term care facility at the Deep River and District Health (DRDH) campus, judging by the flurry of heavy equipment and workers prepping the site for construction.

On Friday, however, an official ground-breaking ceremony was held to mark both all the planning which has gone into lifting the new Four Seasons Lodge from a dream into reality, and what it will bring to the community.

“Today marks an incredibly momentous day in our 50-year history,” said DRDH president and chief executive officer Janna Hotson.

“This is a reflection of the sustainability and growth of our campus for many years to come.”

The province announced two years ago that the Four Seasons Lodge would be allocated 96 new long-term care spaces, replacing its 14 current beds.

Hotson was joined at Friday’s ceremony by a number of dignitaries, hospital officials, mayors of the four municipalities in the DRDH’s catchment area, members of the community who have helped raise money for the new long-term care facility’s construction, and residents of the existing Four Seasons Lodge…
