A young Deep River family lost their home Wednesday as fire gutted the upper portions of the two-storey structure on Frontenac Crescent.

Deep River firefighters responded to the call shortly before 4 pm Wednesday. The home was fully engulfed on arrival.

The occupants of the home were able to escape unharmed and there are no reports of injuries.

Preliminary investigation suggests the fire began in a second-storey laundry area.

Hydro workers disconnected power to the home and firefighters remained on the scene past 6 pm to ensure there were no further flareups.

The NRT will provide further details as they become available.
