Council to review code of conduct to cover “private interests”

Deep River council is hoping to get a new code of conduct governing the actions of council members before its term in office expires later this fall.

On the table at last week’s council meeting was a recommendation from the town’s chief administrative officer, Sean Patterson, and clerk Jackie Mellon, calling on municipal staff to prepare a revised code of conduct for council’s approval.

In a report to council on the matter, they noted the town’s integrity commissioner, Guy Giorno, made a number of recommendations back in 2020 as to how the town could improve its existing code of conduct.
