A Renfrew County man who shared intimate images of his fiance with her adult daughter has received a conditional sentence including six months house arrest and two year’s probation.
The case was heard in Pembroke court last fall. Justice Jeffrey Richardson’s reasons for decision were published recently on the website for the Canadian Legal Information Institute.
The case is under a publication ban and no details identifying the victim can be released.
In his decision, Justice Richardson described “GS” as a 46-year-old man suffering from PTSD and depression as a result of “an extremely deprived and abusive childhood.”
While the “starting point” in a case of distributing intimate images without consent “should be a custodial sentence,” Richardson said the “unique circumstances of this case and the unique profile of Mr. GS” allow for a conditional sentence…
