Canadian Nuclear Laboratories and the union representing more than 700 scientists and engineers at Chalk River have reached a tentative deal on a new collective agreement.
CNL and the Chalk River Professional Employees Group (CRPEG) have been working on a new contract for more than a year.
CRPEG had been in a legal strike position as of 12:01 am Monday after talks with a federal conciliator failed last month.
In a bulletin dated Friday, CRPEG announced that it had signed a tentative agreement with CNL after further “intense negotiations.”
CRPEG president Jonathan Fitzpatrick said the three-year deal includes wage increases of 3.5 per cent in each year.
Details of the agreement will be presented to CRPEG members at a meeting at the Chalk River Lions Hall March 21, and by Zoom March 21 and 22.
An electronic ratification vote will be held March 22-24.
