The union representing more than 700 scientists and engineers at Chalk River says it is ready to strike to get a “fair deal” from Canadian Nuclear Laboratories.
CNL and the Chalk River Professional Employees Group (CRPEG) have been working on a new contract for more than a year.
CRPEG held an information picket on Plant Road Tuesday morning to support its cause.
“We have been without a collective agreement since January 2021 and our nuclear scientists and engineers are running out of patience,” said CRPEG president Jonathan Fitzpatrick in a statement Monday.
“They have given us the strongest mandate for job action – including a strike – in the history of the Chalk River Professional Employees Group.
“Our members deserve fair pay and we are prepared to walk off the job site if that’s what it takes”….
