Boil water advisory lifted

The town of Deep River has lifted its boil water advisory.

The town announced Monday that the Renfrew County and District Health Unit officially rescinded the precautionary order that came into effect last Thursday at 9 am.

The town said the health unit issued the precautionary advisory because a loss of pressure in the distribution system for approximately 30 minutes was reported late Wednesday evening consistent with Ontario’s Safe Drinking Water Act, 2002.

“Since the initial pressure loss, no negative test results were reported,” the town said.

“During this time the chlorine residual levels remained within legislated ranges at all times.

“As per legislation bacteria samples were taken over the following days and all samples clearly demonstrated that the municipal water had remained within legislated parameters.

“This means that despite the precautionary boil water advisory our municipal water remained potable throughout the advisory period.”

The town said “no actions are required” by users of the town’s water system.

“You can use municipal water as you normally would effective immediately.”

“We would like to thank all residents for their cooperation on this matter and apologize for any inconvenience.”
