It will cost roughly $800,000 over the next two to four years to repair and replace the roof over the Deep River Community Pool.
That’s the estimate of consultants hired to complete an assessment of the structure this year after a thermographic inspection forced the closure of the pool mezzanine area in 2021.
In a report to council included on tonight’s agenda, Dave McCarthy, the town’s infrastructure and contract manager, said the engineering consultants’ report made it clear that the facility is “safe for public use but the mezzanine area should continue to remain closed.”
The report, by Snetsinger Consultants LTD and subcontractors GWAL and Art Engineering Inc, includes recommendations for both “immediate and long-term repair and replacement options for the facility.”
