Traffic was slowed to one lane on Highway 17 just west of Chalk River this morning as crews cleaned up from a truck fire early Thursday morning. Laurentian Hills firefighters were called out at about 4 am after one of the wheels on a flatbed transport caught fire and burned up into the truck’s cargo of boxed ball bearings. The truck was able to pull off to the side of the highway. Crews are transferring the remaining load to a new flatbed. The OPP is on scene guiding traffic around the site.
