Deep River has renewed its fire protection services agreement (FPSA) with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL).
The renewal came during a special meeting of town council on September 29 last week.
The timing of that date is notable for the fact that a six-month extension to the first agreement the town had in place with CNL was set to expire the next day.
The six-month extension, the town’s chief administrative officer, Sean Patterson, told council, was put into place “as we conducted contract negotiations with the union (Deep River Professional Fire Fighters’ Association).”
