Parents appeal for Chalk River nursery school to reopen

A group of parents in Laurentian Hills want the town to re-open the Chalk River nursery school, and they’re willing to help out in any way they can to make that happen.

Robin Moeller Yates, representing the parents, appeared as a delegation before the most recent virtual meeting of the town’s protection to persons and property committee to state the case for re-opening the nursery school.

“The community has a huge need for this school to be re-opened,” Yates told council members.

“Since Covid has started, children have been suffering because they haven’t been able to play with their friends and benefit from an educational environment the community used to provide.”

The nursery school, located in the Chalk River Resource Centre, has been closed since March 2019, largely due to the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the municipality did not include any money in this year’s budget towards its re-opening….
