Laurentian Hills isn’t holding out much hope it can help its westerly neighbour resolve its long-standing auto extrication issue.
That was the message coming out of the town’s protection to persons and property committee at its last meeting of 2021.
As previously reported, Head, Clara and Maria (HCM) sent out a letter to a number of area municipalities and agencies asking if they would be interested in attending a meeting this fall to fill a “gap” in auto-extrication services.
The gap in those services affects a 30 km stretch of Highway 17 in HCM, stretching from Colton Lake, west of Rolphton, to Bissett Creek.
Head, Clara and Maria had been part of a three-way agreement with the towns of Deep River and Laurentian for auto-ex services throughout all three municipalities, but that agreement was dissolved in 2015, by mutual agreement of all three municipal partners…
