Laurentian Hills council appears to still retain interest in developing a municipal boat launch along the Ottawa River.
Council was in receipt of correspondence at last week’s meeting from Robert Gervais, who lives off Lau-Ren Road, asking about recreational opportunities in the municipality, and the need for a boat launch in particular.
“Laurentian Hills is one of nine municipalities in Renfrew County with frontage on the Ottawa River,” Gervais wrote to council.
“Our municipality is the only one without a public boat launch.
“Of these nine, only two have more shoreline than Laurentian Hills. These two municipalities both feature three public boat launches each.”
Gervais went on to suggest that Laurentian Hills is “lacking in recreational opportunities.”
“In fact, I am unaware of municipal involvement in recreation with the exception of supporting low-cost, volunteer-run ball fields and outdoor rinks,” Gervais stated in his letter…
