Firefighters respond to call west of Rolphton

Laurentian Hills firefighters were called out Tuesday morning to a report of a structure fire at a home off Highway 17, just west of Rolphton at around 11 am.

On arrival firefighters noticed smoke inside the home and put out the fire.

The Deep River fire department was requested to provide mutual aid but the fire was doused before assistance was needed.

Initial reports suggest there was an explosion at the residence and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s will be investigating the cause.

Although there didn’t appear to be any injuries, Renfrew County paramedics were at the scene for assessment.
