Deep River firefighters responded quickly Tuesday night to a report of a car fire on lower Thomas Street.
Firefighters were called out to the scene just before 9:30 pm. The homeowners had parked their Hyundai SUV in the driveway and were warned by a passer-by that the rear of the vehicle was on fire about 10 minutes after arriving home.
Damage was limited to a section of the rear bumper and back hatch. It’s expected the cause was electrical.
There was no further damage and no injuries, but the situation could have been much worse if the vehicle had been parked in the garage.
