Deep River firefighters knock down burn

The Deep River Fire Department was called out Wednesday afternoon to a property off Highway 17 in the west end of town.

Firefighters were able to put down a fire which appears to have gotten away from a fire pit and destroyed a backyard shed.

Deep River was dispatched to the scene just before 12:30 pm with Laurentian Hills firefighters called in for mutual aid minutes later. Support was called off around 1 pm as “no further response is required.”

The fire department is urging residents to exercise full fire safety, particularly when it comes to outdoor fires.
