County picks new FEN provider

by Vance Gutzman

The FEN program for young families here in North Renfrew is slated to be revived next month.

The County of Renfrew’s social services committee is recommending that the county enter into an agreement with Family and Children’s Services of Renfrew County for the provision of EarlyON services in Deep River and Laurentian Hills.

EarlyON programs are aimed at providing support to children, parents and caregivers in terms of things like learning, child development and well-being.

Those programs here in North Renfrew were formerly run by the Family Enrichment Network (FEN) Early Years Centre, which was established back in 1989 as a drop-in centre for young parents and their children.

Over the years, the program expanded in North Renfrew to three locations – in Deep River, Chalk River and Point Alexander.
