Laurentian Hills firefighters were on the scene of a second fire Tuesday, as the early evening blaze destroyed a private cottage at the end of Red Deer Trail off Moore’s Road.
Firefighters had still not cleared the scene of a brush fire off Kean Road Tuesday afternoon when the call came in of a structure fire just after 6 pm.
The cottage was already fully engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived at the site at the end of the narrow bush trail.
The flames had spread from the cottage to the surrounding bush, as firefighters set up two lines of attack to contain the blaze.
One section of fire had jumped a ravine to the east of the main site. Live hydro lines had fallen in the area and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry was called in to water bomb the location by helicopter attack.
Renfrew County paramedics and the Deep River fire department also responded to the call to support the Laurentian Hills response.
