CNL contract extended four years

Steady as she goes?

Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd has announced that it has extended the operating contract for Canadian Nuclear Laboratories for another four years.

The Canadian National Energy Alliance (CNEA) was chosen to run CNL under the company’s first “government-owned, contractor-operated” (GoCo) management contract in 2015.

The contract was for a term of six years, with an option for another four.

In an announcement Monday, AECL said its decision to award the four-year option was made “based on the performance to date” of CNL and the CNEA, “and the ongoing need for the programs of work that are underway under the contract.”
