Boy dies from injuries in crash

Tragic news for a local family this holiday weekend as the Upper Ottawa Valley detachment of the OPP has announced that a four-year-old boy from Laurentian Hills has died in hospital from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash on Forest Lea Road Thursday afternoon.

In a statement released Sunday afternoon, police say the collision happened at approximately 3 pm on Thursday, June 27, 2019.

“A car was travelling on Forest Lea Road when it collided with another car as it was entering the roadway.

“A total of five people were in the vehicles. William JONES, aged 4 of Laurentian Hills, Ontario succumbed to his injuries in hospital.”

Police say an OPP East Region Collision Reconstructionist and Technical Collision Investigators are assisting with the investigation.

“Forest Lea Road was closed for an extended period of time, while investigators worked at the scene. The investigation is still ongoing.”
